Middle school bulletin boards can help keep teachers organized and can help support a chosen theme. Try these two bulletin board ideas to jazz up any classroom.

Going back to school can be overwhelming for teachers. One time consuming task is designing and making bulletin boards for the classroom. These two bulletin board ideas will help organize the teacher and will support a chosen theme. In addition, the bulletin boards will add color and creativity to any class room.

Decorate Don't Overstimulate

A bland room is not inviting for students. Bulletin boards can have many functions: teaching, organizing and displaying. Or, they can be pure decoration. However, some students can be over stimulated by too much decoration. The key is to find a balance. If there are several bulletin boards in a classroom, teachers should select one to help organize their teaching lives.

Bulletin Boards that Aid the Teacher

Place the teacher desk in front of a bulletin board so that the desk faces the student desks. Schedules, calendars, lists, indicators, curriculum maps, etc. need a place and need to be easily accessed. Neatly display the important teacher information. To make it extra special, focus on the personality of the teacher.

To decorate it, die cut letters to spell out the teacher's name. Then, choose pictures that focus on the teacher's personal life that are great to share. Mat those pictures on construction paper or scrapbooking paper. Each important schedule or list should be framed with border or interesting paper. This bulletin board can be changed throughout the year.

Connect with a Theme

Another helpful idea is a theme bulletin board. Sometimes schools choose a theme that all the teachers try to incorporate. Or, many teachers choose a theme for the year to help build rapport among the students or to raise achievement.

Themes ideas are as follows: "Soar with Scores," "Triumph with Teamwork," "Read for Success," "Keys to Achievement", "Write to Win," "Create and Execute," etc. Once a theme has been chosen, create decorations for the classroom, including a bulletin board.

Making a Theme Bulletin Board

The bulletin board should be colorful. After choosing the theme, die cut the letters for the words. Leave room to showcase student achievement or student work on the bulletin board. For example, if the theme is "Keys for Achievement," the teacher can die cut many keys out of construction paper. On the keys write the students' names and great test or quiz scores.

If the theme is "Triumph with Teamwork," take pictures throughout the school year when students are working well together during cooperative learning lessons. Post those pictures on this bulletin board. Students will enjoy looking at the pictures and teamwork will be encouraged.

The teacher organization bulletin board and theme bulletin board not only decorate the room, they also perform important functions. They help keep the teacher organized and reinforce a "big idea" for the school year. In addition, the classroom will be more inviting for the students and will add an extra splash of color.
